A big shout out Happy Birthday to my sweet husband. It just so happened that some family and friends were in town from out of state this weekend to help us celebrate. It was a very casual, laid back celebration of pizza, cake and ice cream at our house. But, that is what Josh wanted. Thanks hon for being such a great husband and dad. We love you and think you are the greatest!!
Big Juds- A Harris/Adams Family favorite. For those of you who don't live in Idaho and have not heard of Big Juds- they are famous for their one pound hamburgers. The Hamburger buns are made in pie tins and they load on the toppings. You get your picture on the wall of fame if you can eat a whole one by yourself. Now they have a double, triple, or quadruple burger. - UGH! That is a lot of meat. We had nineteen people with us, and five ate a whole Big Jud - of course they were all boys! Nothing like a little healthy competition.

We were with my family this weekend for our monthly FHE - this month: carving pumpkins. Grandpa had grown enough pumpkins for each of the grandkids to have one. They all got to carve their own, with the help of moms and dads of course. We told Adam that he was going to carve pumpkins and kept asking for it for 2 days. He was so excited, although I don't think he really knew what carving pumpkins is. His attention span with the pumpkins was very short, especially his own - he had to constantly check out what everyone else was doing. Thanks to dad, the project got finished. He is so proud of his pumpkin now, it has to stay in the house with us, we are not allowed to put it on the front porch. :)

We woke up this morning to find enough snow had stuck to the ground to make a snowman. Josh and Adam donned their winter gear (sort-of) and headed off to make a snowman.
Don't you love the red fingers - we couldn't keep his gloves on, but he never complained of them being cold, so I guess he was okay.

Adam discovered the art of eating snow. What is it with kids eating snow anyway? 
He thought the snow on the ground tasted so good, why not try a bite of the snowman? At least this way I don't have to get my hands cold, right mom?
I Love Fall! I love to watch the trees turn colors. I love "sweater weather". I love that it isn't extremely hot or cold. I love that fall means we are getting ready for the holiday season. I love that fall is a time of crafts, projects, canning, harvesting, and knowing the next few months is a lot of time we get to spend with family. But, it seems this year we have gone straight from summer to fall. (We also went straight from winter to summer with very little spring.) Last week we were in the 80's and today it is snowing. I am sad that our fall season only lasted a few days. Maybe we will be lucky and it is just a cold spell and we will get some fall weather for at least a few weeks.
Adam was excited to see the snow. He ran around laughing in it. And then he stood in wonder and just watched it come down. I wish I had my camera closer at hand to capture the wonder on his face. He would hold out his hand and try to catch it. Great Grandma and Grandpa Adams came over for lunch today and they were here no longer than 30 seconds when Adam took Grandpa outside to show him the cool white stuff he had discovered. They quickly found the swings and other fun things to play with in the yard. As you can see in the background we have our entire garden up except for the tomato plant which is seeking cover under the blanket. Who knows if they will make it through this weekend.
While Aunt Katie was in the hospital with a new baby, Brielle got to come play at our house for a few days. Adam and Brielle have a relationship like no other. They love each other so much and are so excited to see each other - which lasts maybe 45 seconds. They bring out the worst in each other. We can't figure out if it is because they are so close in age or both only children (until 6 days ago) or both just strong willed. Needless to say, they spend most of their time trying to make sure the other isn't touching anything in the house they feel is important - including furniture. We have worked a lot on sharing, not hitting or pushing and being soft with each other. Many tears and time outs, but I think we are starting to see some progress. They were at their worst when I had them at TGIFriday's for lunch with Kira, Mel and KK. (I had wanted to get pics. with our Harris cousins - but wrestling two 2 year olds through lunch, my camera never left the diaper bag. :) ) Let me just say, I was exhausted by the time I got home.
